Origin Story
How did The Becoming Herd come to be, you ask? Excellent question! (And if you didn’t ask, that’s okay – I forgive you. I’ll keep pretending you did.)
Throughout my life, I’ve listened to countless conversations among women about their dreams: raising a family, building a career, getting in the best shape of their lives, writing a book…The list goes on. But rarely have I heard women talk about the possibility of pursuing all those things at once.
It wasn’t until recently that I realized the issue isn’t a lack of desire, it’s that for generations, women have been told it’s impossible to “have it all.”
I don’t know if it truly is impossible or not, but I’m creating a space to share my journey as I do everything I can to figure it out.
My hope is that this blog inspires anyone wondering which of their dreams will have to be sacrificed, validates the struggle in overcoming opposition, and reminds you that you are not alone.

Everything You Need to Know About Me
There’s not that much, really.
Just kidding! There’s a lot. But I can’t give everything away here, otherwise you won’t read the blog!
Here are the basics:
- Marriage: I met my husband in late 2022, and almost exactly one year later, we were married.
- Military spouse: After we were engaged, my husband approached me with the prospect of joining the military. Every about-to-be wife’s favorite thing to hear, I’m sure. But I support him wholeheartedly in achieving his dreams, and he is set to enlist in the next few months.
- Graduate student: I’m currently in my second year of graduate school earning my master’s in social work (MSW). After graduation, I plan to pursue clinical licensure so I can offer individual, couples, and family counseling.
- Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy: Horses have shaped who I am in profound ways. I’m earning a practitioner certificate in equine-assisted psychotherapy, and I hope to bring the lessons horses teach into clinical work, and into this community!
- Faith: My Christ-centered faith has been an anchor in my life from an early age. I wouldn’t be who I am without my belief in a higher power.
- Motherhood: My husband and I hope to start a family soon. Learning to balance raising little humans alongside my own aspirations is what my journey may be all about.
- Personal fulfillment: If everything else wasn’t enough, I am passionate about finding time for the hobbies that bring me joy. Mainly losing myself in a fantastical world on a page (preferably with dragons), spending time outdoors, and any sort of sport-related activity.
The Becoming Herd
As you can probably tell—both from my life and, I’m sure, from your own— life rarely slows down. The busyness is never-ending. So how do we do it all while walking the line between fulfillment and burnout?
I’m hoping we can figure that out together and remember that joy is often found in the process of becoming.
Thanks for being here.
